Joining me today in my continuing series showcasing an author’s writing space is the amazing Susan Harris, author of Shattered Memories, as well as the Ever Chase Chronicles, which I’ll tell you a little about below. But without further ado, please say hello to Susan!
As I writer, I like to surround myself with as much positivity as possible. I’m a pessimist rather than an optimist, so filling my space with cute little sayings and colour help when getting into the writing zone. I have an obsession with Thumper from Bambi and like to keep one on my desk while I write.
I’m a lover of quotes and signs, as you can see. The ones I have, Follow your Dreams, Stay Weird, Dream Big and even my Fluent Sarcasm sign, remind me who I am when I get lost in the negativity life can impose on you. And since I tend to write a little on the dark side, having some colour and happy things help me to stay grounded.
If you’re familiar with me as a person, you already know I’m a little nerdy and geeky. On my desk I have transformers and Marvel notes blocks and notebooks. Fun little toys to fiddle with while trying to dig myself out of a plot hole or simply to procrastinate (I do admit to creating storylines for future transformer movies!)
And finally my books. Wow. Saying that still makes my heart skip a beat. When I’m having a particularly bad day when I think I’m not good enough or just playing at being an author, I look at my books and realize, I’m not playing at anything, I am a writer. Despite all that I have gone through in my past, I succeeded where people told me I wouldn’t. I’m living a dream I never thought possible and that’s pretty freaking amazing!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Susan! And you should be sure to check out her new series, The Ever Chase Chronicles starting with book one, Skin and Bones!
Teens are turning up dead, and it will take a special team to catch a killer.
Derek Doyle has been a member of the Paranormal Investigations Team since the monsters revealed themselves to the world. Considering that he thinks a monster is needed to catch a monster, he’s definitely in the right place. As a lone wolf not used to letting many people in, neither man nor beast was prepared for the effect consultant Dr. Ever Chace has on them.
Growing up human in a world of supernatural creatures, Dr. Ever Chase has always felt a need to be special, to stand out. When asked to consult on a case where teens are being brutalized, she relishes the chance to make a difference and help stop a monster. But working alongside a wolf who she’s so drawn to could be the beginning of something Ever might never have envisioned.
Fate and Destiny have a funny way of creeping up on you when you least expect it. With a murderer on the loose, Ever and Derek will have to put their attraction to one another aside while the hunt continues.
Easier said than done… right?
